He renegotiated his contract with the Chinese brand in 2016 and made an endorsement deal for 10 years. The apparel and footwear he will be designing with Anta will all be worth a whopping $80 million.

The first-ever shoe in his signature line was created for the purpose of training, casual use, and light running. The second shoe, Anta KT 2, is the model we will be talking about. This was designed to be a performance-driven type of shoe. This mid-top shoe makes use of the Anta Eve cushioning. As I’ve mentioned, the cushion used for this shoe is called the Anta Eve. It’s mainly made out of comfortable and basic EVA foam and high-density foam pads both located at the forefoot and heel. Players who usually experience fatigue and stress on their legs and knees won’t experience those once they slip on these kicks. Thanks to the foam pads, it protects the player from impacts and keeps the legs and knees from feeling tired and stressed out.

The outsole of the Anta KT 2 has a herringbone pattern and depending on which colorway the consumer will purchase, the outsole can either be translucent or solid. It’s common knowledge that grooves on the outsole provide good traction and grip on the court.

The fit is standard in length and width. According to some wearers, the shoe has a one-to-one fit on normal-sized feet. For those players who don’t like a snug fit, it’s recommended that they use the shoe lots of times in order to stretch and loosen up the snug fit. However, if you have a wide foot then it’s best if you pay your local sports store a visit and fit the shoes there to get a better fit.

The materials used for the upper are made from fuse and mesh. The purpose of the fuse is to provide the player with durability while the mesh gives way for air to flow in the shoe, so in short, it gives the player breathability. Outriggers on the side of the shoes prevents ankle rolls.

The KT 2 sports a mid-top collar and comes in a variety of colorways. On the rear part of the shoe is a TPU heel counter that resembles the look of a hawk. Anta has an explanation as to why a hawk is used as the symbol for this shoe, they said that similar to a hawk, Thompson observes the perimeter before making a quick move on his opponents. The texture is also inspired by the feathers of a hawk. The logo of Anta is located on both sides of the shoe and the outsole while Thompson’s logo can be seen on the tongue and on the insole.

Overall, this shoe is great for those on a budget but still want a shoe that performs well. For the price tag it surely doesn’t sacrifice performance.
